Chapter 1: Mr Lucas Starts to Visit.

VOCABULARY

1- Resolutions: propósito. It is a noun.
If you want to do or you don´t want to do something.
The Last New Year´s Day I didn´t have any resolutions.

2- Hang up: colgar. It is a verb.
Putting something in a place where this "object" doesn´t fall to the floor.
Always, I forget to hang the jacket up.

3- Tapes: casetes/cintas. It is a noun.
It is used to listen to music or to record music.

4- Covers: cubierta/carátula. It is a noun.
Something that you put on other something to cover it.

I have lost my tapes because they weren´t in the covers.

5- Squeezing: apretar. It is a verb.
Doing pressure over something.
I have squeezed a lot my biscuit and I have broken it.

6- Spots: granos. It is a noun.
It is something that originates in the skin.
My cousin has got a lot of spots but he has a cream that heals over them.

7- Downstairs: planta baja. It is a noun.
There weren´t any furniture downstairs two years ago.

8- Chin: barbilla. It is a noun.
It is the part of the face which is under the mouth.
My sister´s got an injury in the chin because she hit it with the floor when
she fell over.

9- Spedometer: velocímetro. It is a noun.
It is a machine which measures the speed.
The car´s speedometer doesn´t work.

10- Saddle: silla de montar. It is a noun.
It is used to ride horses.
I put the saddle and I ride my horse.

11- Thin: delgado/ fino. It is an adjective.
Slim.
My friend is very thin because she doesn´t eat well.

12- Surely: seguramente.It is an adverb.
Probably.
Surely I will learn to drive next year.

13- Beans: judías. It is a noun.
It is a kind of vegetable.
Yesterday I ate beans although I don´t like them.

14- Please: complacer. It is a verb.
Make happy and satisfy someone.
Yesterday I didn´t please my mum because I was angry with her.

15- Stands: soportar/aguantar a alguien. It is a verb.
To accept someone´s character and behaviour.
My elder brother is such a bore and I sometimes can´t stand him.

16- Treacle: melaza. It is a noun.
The kids ate all the treacle cake because is tasted delicious.

17- Netball: netball. It is a noun.
It is a sport which I have never played.

18- Chest: pecho. It is a noun.
It is a body´s part in the thorax.
My mum has injuries in the chest.

19- Kick: dar patadas. It is a verb.
To hit someone with the feet.
My brother Kicked me while we were playing football.

20- Coming round: venir a casa. It is a verb.
To go to someone´s home.
My neighbour is always coming round because he´s in love with my sister.

21- Carrying: llevar. It is a verb.
Moving something from a place to another.
I always carry my backpack to school.

22- Waved: saludar. It is a verb.
To greet someone.
Yesterday one friend saw me and waved me but I didn´t see her so I didn´t wave her.

23- Mongrel: mestizo. It is a noun.
Being born from parents of different races.
I have got a mongrel dog but, even so, it is very nice and the people like it.

24- Hint: pista. It is a noun.
Evidence.
The inspector has hints about who is the thief.

25- Purple: morado. It is an adjective.
It is a color between carmine and blue.
My eye is purple because this morning I hit it with a door.


SUMMARY

The New Year started and Adrian Mole had got some resolutions that he wanted to carry out. However, he didn´t start the Year only with resolutions, he started it with a spot on his chin.
On Sunday, Adrian Mole´s father was still ill. Besides, his dog ran away but the next day they could find it.
During the next days, the dog and Adrian´s mother were ill and they took the dog to the vet and Mr Lucas went to the Mole´s home to visit Adrian´s parents.
On Monday, Mr Lucas had come round to see Adrian´s mother and helped her to clean the house while his father was working. During this week Mr Lucas was in Adrian Mole´s house every day, so Adrian thought that Lucas had an unhappy marriage. In those days Adrian´s parents started to had arguments every day.
When Adrian went to school he fell in love with Pandora.
During those days Mr Lucas was in Adrian Mole´s house everyday and he thought that Lucas has an unhappy marriage.
