Chapter 5: The Siege of Fort William Henry.
SUMMARY
The fort was surrounded by the French and the Hurons. The French siege of William Henry went on for five days to call a truece and the fighting stopped for a time. During this time, Heyward saw that the French had Hawk-eye as a prisioner. Besides, Munro and Heyward talked about Heyward, who had fallen in love with Alice. Moreover, French and British went out but the Hurons killed British women and babys. Finally, Magua took Alice and Cora followed them and the three rode off.
VOCABULARY
1. Surrounded: rodeado. It is a verb. Past participle -> surround.
- To be all around something.
- I was surrounded by lots of people who wanted to see the famous singer.
2. Siege: asedio. It is a noun.
- When an army surrounds a building and waits for the people inside to shop fighting.
3. Businesslike: formal. It is a noun.
- Formal, serious.
- I think that Louis, who is my classmate, is not very businesslike.
4. Coward: cobarde. It is an adjective.
- An easily frightened person.
- Rubén is so coward, he afraid of rabbits!
5. Freely: libremente. It is an adverb.
- Without restrictions.
- Birds fly freely.
