Chapter 8: A Bear to the Rescue.

SUMMARY

The Hurons and Heyward went to other hut and when Magua came in recognized Uncas, and the Hurons shuted him in a smaller prison with five men outside to guard the place. Heyward, who had said he was a white doctor who looks after the ills Hurons, followed the Huron´s chief to help the sick woman and in their way they saw a bear which was following them. When Gamut was leaving the cave, he told Heyward, who was coming in, that Alice was there. Then, Heyward was in a room with the ill woman and the bear, which turned out to be Hawk-eye. Later,Heyward went to look for Alice and he found her and he also told her about feelings for her. Magua saw them and he shuted them in the room but the bear appeared and hit Magua. Heyward covered Alice with the blanket from the ill woman´s bed. The three left the cave and said that they had to take medicines from the forest and they ran away. Eventually, Gamut exchanged clothes with Hawk-eye, who went to rescue Uncas. Finally, Gamut stayed in the prison but Hawk-eye, with Gamut´s clothes, and Uncas, in the bear suit, walked into the forest.

- To tie something across someone´s mouth to stop them from speaking.
- I had to gag my dog because it barked too much.

7. Palefaces: blancos. It is a noun.
- An Indian name for white people.
- The Indian call us "Palefaces".

8. Foof: loco. It is a noun.
- A mad person.
- He is such a fool, because he is going to copy in the exam, and the teacher will discover him.
